The women featured in our biographies, whatever field they were active in, all did something to improve the quality of life and culture of Scotland and, quite often, in lands far beyond our shores.
Some of these women were privileged but many were not. Some of them were famous but many were not. The important point is that they were not, like so many to-day, famous merely for being famous. Their life and their efforts matter.
These women are certainly not "9 day wonders". Some of them lived hundreds of years ago but the effect of their lives is still being felt by us to-day.
The vast majority of these ladies were born in Scotland but, from time to time, I am open to including individuals who were born beyond these shores as long as their contribution to this country was, or is, truly significant.
As well as the biographies, which will be changed regularly, there will be many other things to inspire you.
We will regularly carry information on volunteering in your community and educational opportunities, whether it be evening classes or a five year University Course.
We will also cover health issues and information on sourcing grants for community and charity projects etc.
It won't all happen at once, of course, and wehope that you'll be patient but, in time, with careful use of our "back pages" I should be able to throw more light on most of the areas that interest you.
You are actively invited to leave constructive comments on the site, telling us how we can improve it and about the things that are important to you.
